Prepare the environment where your new composting worms are to live before you order. Contact us to order. We need to know how many quarts you want and when. We need 24 hour’s notice to fill an order. We will have the worms ready at the farm for pick up after 5 pm on the day you want them. We strongly suggest you put the worms into their new habitat right away, as we cannot guarantee that they will live very long in the cartons we put them in. We are available for support after you purchase worms. We will try to address your questions to the best of our ability.

Description

The composting worms which we use to make our Living Soil Worm Castings and sell are commonly called red wigglers. Their scientific name is Eisenia fetida. Composting worms efficiently consume dead organic matter and later excrete worm casts. Composting worms are found in nature at the interface of soil and the dead plant material, which accumulates on the soil surface as plants die off. Red wigglers stay close to the surface, need darkness, moisture, oxygen, a lot of food, and moderate temperatures to survive. They will not survive when put into “regular” garden soils that contain mostly mineral matter.
