Description

Compost tea is a concentrated liquid created by mixing Living Soil Worm Compost with dechlorinated water and aerating this mixture for about 24 hours. Worm compost tea is rich in biological activity. It can be applied throughout the growing season to either leaves or soil. Applying compost tea to soil in the root zone stimulates biological activity at the root’s surface, which can enhance nutrient cycling and disease suppression. Studies have shown that microorganisms in the tea colonize the leaf surface, essentially protecting the leaf from colonization by pathogenic organisms.

We like to apply compost tea to young plants before they are transplanted out into the garden. We apply tea to recent transplants to encourage good establishment. Applying tea to container plants grown in commercial potting soil helps promote good growth throughout the growing season.

Compost teas are very versatile and easy to make, but they need to be used soon after they are made. It is practical and economical to make compost tea with your own tea brewer at the times that are convenient for you.

Living Soil Tea Brewer

We have developed a very simple but effective tea brewer, using a 5-gallon container and a simple, durable aeration system. It is a user-friendly and economical way to start your journey with compost tea.

Use the contact form to order a Living Soil Tea Brewer. Brewing Kits can be picked up at the farm location in NW Fort Collins. If you are not able to pick up at the farm, we can ship.  Use the contact form and include your address in the request. We will calculate postage and notify you of the shipped price before you place your order.

The kit comes with 2 gallons of our high-quality Living Soil Worm Compost which is enough to brew 8 five-gallon batches of tea, or 40 gallons of tea. Your first five batches of tea will cost you less than $2.00/gallon.  After your first 2-gallon bag of Living Soil Worm Compost is used up, you can order another 2-gallon bag for $20. This brings the cost of your next 40 gallons of tea to about $.50/gallon!
